The 2024 edition of the ITEC courses draws to a close!

From December 4 to 6, 2024, IHU Strasbourg organized the 16th edition of its flagship course, the International Therapeutic Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS). Over three days, 18 participants, including doctors, nurses and assistants, plunged into the heart of advanced therapeutic echo-endoscopy. Under the guidance of echo-endoscopy expert Dr. Leonardo Sosa Valencia, this unique program combining theory, intensive hands-on practice and mentoring by international experts is a must for practitioners wishing to strengthen their skills.

Training that combines expertise, technology and clinical realism

The aim of the ITEC course is clear: to provide cutting-edge training that will push back the boundaries of therapeutic echo-endoscopy.

During this session, participants, guided by course director Dr. Leonardo Sosa Valencia and a panel of international experts including Abdenor Badaoui, Jérôme Huppertz, Pierre Deprez, Pedro Moutinho-Ribeiro, Enrique Pérez-Cuadrado-Robles and Pierre-Yves Christmann, benefited from:

  • Over 14 hours of intensive practice on High-Fidelity Simulated Animal models (HiFiSAM*) developed at IHU Strasbourg, reproducing complex clinical scenarios (multiple intra-abdominal collections, biliary dilatations, lymph nod).
  • Immersion in a cutting edge environment thanks to state-of-the-art echo-endoscopy equipment provided by Pentax, and to a multimodal imaging platform (CT scanner, angio-CT, C-ARM).

The topics covered included complex procedures such as:

  • Gastrocystostomy,
  • Radiofrequency ablation,
  • Echo-guided biliary drainage,
  • Neurolysis of the celiac ganglia,
  • Portal pressure measurement,
  • Digestive anastomoses…

Each participant benefited from personalized follow-up, enabling them to perfect their gestures under conditions similar to real-life clinical situations.

Experience validated by the UEG and supported by our industrial partners

ITEC course is supported endorsed by the UEG (United European Gastroenterology) and follows the 2024 recommendations of the ESGE (European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy), ensuring a high level of excellence.
Its success also relies on collaboration with industrial partners such as Pentax Medical, Boston Scientific, Cousin Endoscopy, Cook Medical, Taewoong Medical, MediGlobe and Steris Endoscopy.
These partnerships guarantee access to the latest high-performance equipment and devices.
